Hey Jess thanks for your reply.

This wasn't a post on the RMHC...I think they do wonderful work and thus why I called. And I completely understand about the "germiness" of items. Nothing a spray of Lysol couldn't deal with and plush animals can be thrown in the washer/dryer.
Thanks for the volunteering invitation and thanks for the volunteering work you do there :)

Do you realize that a Ronald McDonald House provides low cost or even free lodging for parents of critically ill children? Often these children are hospitalized and parents and siblings stay at the House. But sometimes the sick child is able to stay at the House with his/her family while undergoing day treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation, waiting for a transplant, etc. These children have severely weakened immune systems. Parents and House staff have to be hyper-sensitive to germs that could kill these precious children. Your almost new toys would surely be welcomed by a women's shelter, Salvation Army, etc, who can distribute them to needy children. And if you really want to help a Ronald McDonald House, stop in for a tour and ask how you can volunteer. What you get back is so much more than you give. Knowing that you have helped a family going through life's most awful experience -- in whatever small way you can help -- is very, very gratifying.
